GCF Board Approves “Fuelling Green Recovery in Armenia” Project

We are pleased to announce that the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board has approved Armenia’s new project, “Fuelling Green Recovery in Armenia – Advancing Forest Infrastructure and Creating Sustainable Jobs for Rural Communities”, at its 43rd meeting (B.43) held on October 30, 2025.

ADWISE Consulting, in cooperation with E.Co Ltd, supported the Environmental Project Implementation Unit (EPIU) under the Ministry of Environment of Armenia in developing this funding proposal on behalf of the Green Climate Fund.

With a total value of USD 10 million, of which 94.9% will be provided through a GCF grant, the project will be implemented by EPIU as the national executing entity. It represents an important milestone in Armenia’s efforts to strengthen forest ecosystem resilience, enhance rural livelihoods, and accelerate the country’s green recovery.

The project will implement a series of transformative interventions to:

• Restore degraded forest landscapes and expand climate-resilient forest cover across priority regions;
• Diversify rural economies through the development of non-timber forest product (NTFP) value chains and agroforestry systems, supporting sustainable income generation and job creation;
• Introduce digital monitoring, data, and investment platforms to improve forest governance, transparency, and pave the way for participation in future carbon markets.

By combining ecosystem restoration, rural development, and digital innovation, “Fuelling Green Recovery in Armenia” contributes directly to Armenia’s national climate commitments and long-term low-emission development goals. It reflects a strong collaboration between national institutions, international partners, and local communities to foster sustainable, inclusive growth.
